Shrimp and garlic pasta

Shrimp and garlic pasta is a classic and flavorful dish that’s quick to prepare. Here’s a simple recipe for you:

  • 8 oz (about 225g) linguine or your favorite pasta
  • 1 lb (about 450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant.
  4. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until they turn pink and opaque.
  5. If using, pour in the white wine to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits. Allow the wine to simmer for a minute or two.
  6. Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for an additional 2 minutes until they start to soften.
  7. Toss the cooked and drained pasta into the skillet with the shrimp and tomatoes. Mix well to coat the pasta with the flavors.
  8. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Sprinkle chopped parsley over the dish.
  9. Serve the shrimp and garlic pasta hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
