Pistachio Puppy Chow Recipe


  • 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
  • 1 cup dried cranberries (optional, for added sweetness)


  1. In a large mixing bowl, measure out the Rice Chex cereal. Set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine white chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract into the melted mixture.
  4. Pour the melted mixture over the Rice Chex cereal, making sure to coat the cereal evenly. Gently fold until all the cereal is coated.
  5. In a large resealable plastic bag, add the powdered sugar.
  6. Add the coated cereal to the bag, seal it, and shake until the cereal is well coated with powdered sugar.
  7. Spread the coated cereal on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool.
